With a composer and 'history of music' teacher for a father, and a piano teaching mum, Jools was raised on diet of classical music, and watching TOTP with the sound turned down!
His musical journey started aged 4 with the piano and progressed through flute and clarinet until his hair grew long enough for him to discover the delights of bass guitar at the age of 13. Through perms, mullets and now a distinguished shade of grey, Jools has played in a variety of bands playing everything from Prog Rock to pseudo-punk, even enjoying the odd slap and pull of the G string along the way...
A few flirtations with the professional music scene in the 80s, with bands like the majestically named England and new romantics Tear Fund, came to nothing although the highlight was undoubtedly the release of songs on a couple of compilation albums with prog-rockers Ekofisque - one such album selling recently on Ebay for £108, and now available on download!
His tight driving bass style combines exceptionally well with Rob's drumming to provide the solid backline required for the scarlett playlist.
